The brand new Astaro Security Gateway V7.5 will be generally available starting October 1st, the soft-release is already available on Astaro’s FTP-servers for manual download (starting September 17th). It comes with more than 50 new features and improvements that are aimed at enhancing performance and usability, including:

• Upgraded Intrusion Protection Engine to increase performance when deploying multi-core CPUs. Moreover new sophisticated rules were implemented to extend the detection capabilities for the newest exploits.
• Real-time bandwidth monitoring instantly gives a detailed overview over the amounts of bandwidth utilized across all current connections.
• Transparent HTTP proxy now allows authentication of guest users across facilities such as stadiums, hotels or convention centers on a “captive portal” without changing browser settings.
• The possibility to import and export lists makes it easier to bring in configurations.

NETsolutions Asia Limited, the ScriptLogic distributor in Thailand, held a Desktop Authority Training for ScriptLogic partners in Thailand between 10 – 11th February. The training included installation, configuration and troubleshooting of Desktop Authority version 7.8. This instruction was led by Khun Thawat Mohchit , NETsolution’s Senior System Engineer.

Many resellers joined this training including HP Thailand, Abstract Computer, Bay Computing, Metro Systems, Softcontrol.NET and Safecoms . At the end of the training sessions, everyone joined together for a dinner at Take A Seat restaurant, nearby the training centre.

Novell Groupwise is the third biggest player in the corporate email market behind Outlook Exchange and Notes.

Novell Groupwise, in it’s current version 7, renders the acid test perfectly, which puts it right up with Apple Mail and Yahoo Mail in terms of support for modern HTML and CSS. This is for the Windows version of Groupwise. The result also applies to the WebAccess version, and although the testing has not been completed, Linux and OSX version are also expected to meet the same levels.

Astaro’s new release allows a person to be named as an auditor so that they can log into the web interface of Astaro. They cannot change anything, however they can view status plus access all the logs, most importantly the smtp log, so those who are using the syslog function to view these on another PC, will now be able to allow their helpdesk staff to access the logs on Astaro directly.
